Research & Ideation
I always pondered on the question how do I encapsulate everything from what are to be his dreams from the book but still show humane side of Einstein?
Problem
To consolidate everything and have a seamless visual language while maintaining a strong concept, this was a very difficult hurdle to go over. Expperimenting from bold colors that seem to be psychedellic to that of dreams and slightly muted...where is the end?
Design Iterations
Design seems to pull itself together when redirecting to a more vintage sepia color palette and utilizing the center framing we established earlier.
The central elements echo the 'Prologue' chapter, with supporting footages representing various time settings from the book. The background hints at Einstein's “Theory of Relativity”.
Behind the scenes
Forming the sense of humane touch or something similar to where the audience feels as if they are in Einstein's dreams, cutting out pictures elements enhanced this feeling.
Trying out AI, especially Adobe Firefly, made the process much quicker.
Solution
By simplifying the design to highlight the complicated concepts I was attemping to communicate in each frame was an essential solution to this project. Making a set of rules to categorize the hierarchy of elements, going back to the basics of primary, secondary, tertiary were key.
Take Aways
Learning to not overcomplicate and be overwhelmed with a massive challenge to illustrate the whole book, as if this was to be made into a film much later on. One step at a tme.
